* Ensure that every operation is within the specified load that the equipment is capable of handling.

* Take a look at the rigging charts once in a while to ensure that you are maintaining the safety regulations.

* There must be no personnel in the lifting area. Keep them away to avoid any kind of accident.

* Do not hurry with the hoisting. Lift the machine a few inches and check if everything is going smoothly. Proceed only if you feel that the rigging is secure.

* The lift must be started and stopped at a slow pace to avoid accidents.

* Do not leave a load suspension on the rig. A sudden fall can lead to severe accidents.

* Ensure that a distance of at least 10 feet is maintained from the power lines. An electrical disruption during a live event will be totally uncalled for.

* Always remain on guard for obstructions.

* When communicating with crane operators, use proper hand signals and make sure that they understand you clearly.

 After The Operation

* When not in use, the studio rigging equipment must not lay on the ground and be immediately moved to safe places.

* The rigging equipment is advised to be stored in a safe space so that its shelf life is increased. Exposure to moisture and air will lead to an accumulation of rust on the rigging poles.

* Do not drop the equipment heavily on the ground after the event. Harsh particles on the ground cause corrosion and wear out the surface of the equipment faster.

* Avoid exposing the equipment to UV rays over a long period of time. Harmful rays dull and fade the surface polish over time.


Rigging is an innate part of many live concerts, events and exhibitions. There must be sufficient safety protocols in place to take good care of the equipment and avoid unfortunate accidents. Exhibition rigging accidents are fatal and might damage property and also kill many people. If heavy objects fall from a great height, there are more than one ways for danger to pave its way.
